Fatehpur Sikri sealed after 26 coronavirus positive cases surface

The popular Fatehpur Sikri in Uttar Pradesh's Agra has been sealed after 26 positive cases of coronavirus were reported from the place on Sunday. Several others were screened by the health minister.

Agra:District authorities have sealed Fatehpur Sikri situated in Uttar Pradesh's Agra district, as the city reported 26 new coronavirus positive cases on late Sunday evening. Several others were being screened by the health minister, as the district witnessed a sharp rise in cases of infection last evening.

Even as the Agra model of containment of COVID-19, has been widely applauded, the number of infected persons has gone up to 135.

As per reports, the total number of Tablighi Jammat attendees found positive stood at 60 and the number of samples tested was 2,264.

Taking a cue from a local MP, who has mobilised 50 tractors to spray sodium hydrochloride to supplement municipal corporation's efforts, district authorities have decided to go for institutional quarantine and mass sanitisation.

According to officials, civil society groups have mobilised volunteers and resources to distribute essentials, masks and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

While the district authorities claimed they were fully geared for any eventuality, on the other hand, people in many localities alleged authorities for about lack of food and medical care.
