Farrukhabad Jail inmates go on hunger strike for watching IPL matches

The inmates of Fatehgarh Central Jail went on hunger strike, demanding to watch live IPL games on Monday. The senior jail administration official has assured the inmates that their demands will be fulfilled, following which the inmates ended the hunger strike.

Farrukhabad: The inmates of Fatehgarh Central Jail went on hunger strike, demanding to watch live IPL games. On Monday, the inmates underwent a hunger strike, demanding to see IPL matches on television. The senior jail administration official has assured the inmates that their demands will be fulfilled, following which the inmates ended the hunger strike.

In order to prevent mental disorders among the inmates, the jail officials have implemented few facilities like Tv sets and speakers in every cell. This allows the inmates to watch free-to-air channels and listen to music. However, on Monday, the prison inmates boycotted their breakfast, raising demands to see IPL matches.

Senior Jail Superintendent, Pramod Kumar Shukla was in Lucknow to attend a departmental meeting. Upon hearing about the prisoners' hunger strike, he immediately rushed to Farrukhabad and assured the inmates that the jail will soon take subscriptions of paid sports channels, which will allow the prisoners to enjoy live IPL games. Following his assurance, the jail inmates ended their hunger strike.
