Relatives of BJP leader shot dead in Firozabad stage protests

BJP Mandal Vice President Dayashankar Gupta was shot dead in Firozabad on Friday night. His family members and trading community staged a protest seeking the arrest of the accused by blocking the Hariparvat road and Nagla Beech in Agra which led to severe traffic jam.

Agra:The family members of BJP leader DK Gupta who was shot dead in Firozabad last night staged a protest outside the hospital demanding the arrest of the accused.

Soon after the killing, family members and the trading community blocked the Hariparvat road and Nagla Beech in Agra which led to severe traffic jam.

SP City Mukesh Chandra Mishra reached the spot and assured stringent action would be taken against the attackers.

Three people, including the main accused, have been detained and are being questioned, said ADG Agra Ajay Anand.

Among those detained is Viresh Tomar with whom Gupta had some rivalry, adding that the duo even had an exchange of words on Facebook recently.

SSP Sachindra Patel

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sachindra Patel said, "All the angles are being thoroughly examined."

"Yesterday night itself, police teams were formed and Viresh Tomar and two others were detained for questioning," he added.

SP City Rohan Botre and ASP Saurabh Dixit also reached the spot to pacify the protesters. At present, a large number of police forces are on the spot where officers are busy in normalizing the situation.

BJP Mandal Vice President Dayashankar Gupta, 42, resident of Nagla Beach, Thana Narkhi area, owned a grocery shop in Nagla Beach. He was closing the shop at around 8 pm on Friday when three miscreants riding on a bike came and shot him with a gun.

The attackers fled the spot.

Family members said that he was sitting at the shop when the miscreants attacked him.

Gupta was rushed to a private hospital in Agra, where doctors declared him dead.

Further investigations are underway.
