Body of missing woman found at Basti in UP

The 23-year-old woman was reported missing on November 10. Her body was found in the fields near her home in Kalwar.

Basti (Uttar Pradesh):The body of a 23-year-old girl, who went missing last week, was found in Basti's Kalwar on Sunday, the police said.

Two policemen, including an SHO, were suspended for laxity, a senior police official said on Sunday.

The woman had gone missing on November 10 and her body was found on Sunday. She was missing for the last five days. On receiving the information about the incident, the police Kalwari Vindeshwari Mani Tripathi reached the spot

Superintendent of Police Hemraj Meena said the girl's body was found in the fields near her home.

He said the girl's family had lodged a complaint regarding her disappearance on Thursday.

A massive manhunt was launched and the accused was arrested within 24 hours.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ravinder Singh and CO Kalvari Anil Kumar Singh also reached the village.

"The incident seems to be of serious nature. Information was given to the police station but the SHO did not take it seriously. The SHO, along with another cop, has been suspended. Three teams have been formed to crack the case," the SP said.

He added that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.

Three teams have been constituted to investigate the case, he said.
