Danish PM Frederiksen visits Taj Mahal, awestruck by beauty

Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen who is on a three-day visit to India from October 9 to 11 visited the Taj Mahal on Sunday morning along with her husband Bo Tenberg. The PM and the team of guests accompanying her reached the Taj Mahal in a golf cart from Hotel Amar Vilas where she was welcomed by the ASI and police administration officials at Roy's Gate.

Agra (Uttar Pradesh):Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen who is on a three-day visit to India from October 9 to 11 visited the Taj Mahal on Sunday morning along with her husband Bo Tenberg. The PM and the team of guests accompanying her reached the Taj Mahal in a golf cart from Hotel Amar Vilas where she was welcomed by the ASI and police administration officials at Roy's Gate. Frederiksen also praised the beauty of the Taj.

Security at and around the Taj was tightened as part of her visit. Traffic on VIP Road from Air Force Station to the hotel was also halted. The police and administration had closed the shops located on both sides from Hotel Amar Vilas to Taj East Gate.

Earlier on Saturday, Frederiksen was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhawan. She was accorded a ceremonial reception.

India has termed Mette Frederiksen's visit very important as she is the first head of state visiting India since COVID-19 restrictions are in place since last March.

Earlier, the Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi received Frederiksen at the Delhi airport.

India and Denmark have strong trade and investment ties. More than 200 Danish companies are present in India and over 60 Indian companies have a presence in Denmark.

Both countries share a strong collaboration in the fields of renewable energy, clean technologies, water and waste management, agriculture and animal husbandry, science and technology, digitisation including ICT, smart cities, shipping, etc.
