Lucknow: After criticising her own party, 'rebel' Congress MLA from Raebareli (Sadar) in Uttar Pradesh, Aditi Singh had been suspended from the party's women's wing on Thursday.
According to sources, Singh, 32, has been suspended from her post of General Secretary of the women's wing for indulging in anti-party activities and a petition has been filed in the Assembly regarding the termination of her membership due to her anti-party activities.
Speaking to ETV Bharat on the Congress petition, Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit said, "Due to the COVID-19 situation, action has not proceeded, but the process will be initiated as soon as the situation normalises. Action will be taken as per the Constitution."
"The Tenth Schedule to the Constitution of India provides for zero membership in institutions like Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha, Vidhan Parishad, and Rajya Sabha if a member resigns from his / her will. In the case of Aditi Singh, a petition came to us from the leaders of the Congress Legislature. After that the session started running. But due to the corona pandemic, it was not possible to meet. In such a situation, we cannot hold a meeting. This is a judicial proceeding," Dixit said.
