Surendra Prakash Goyal, former Ghaziabad MP and Congress leader died of COVID-19 on Friday. In a tweet on Friday, Minister of State (MoS) for Road Transport and Highways General (Retired) VK Singh condoled the demise of former Ghaziabad MP.

New Delhi: Former Ghaziabad MP and Congress leader Surendra Prakash Goyal passed away on Friday due to COVID-19.

In a tweet on Friday, Minister of State (MoS) for Road Transport and Highways General (Retired) VK Singh condoled the demise of former Ghaziabad MP.

"Received sad news that Shri Surendra Prakash Goyal, who had represented Ghaziabad as an MP, has passed away. He was struggling with a Corona infection. May his soul rest in peace." tweeted Singh in Hindi.

Goyal stood for the 2004 Lok Sabha elections on the Indian National Congress (INC) ticket and won from Ghaziabad-Hapur. He was defeated by BJP leader Rajnath Singh in the next general elections in 2009.
