BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan sentenced to one-year jail in 2004 chakka jam case

On December 18, 2004, the then SP MLA Paswan was staging a demonstration near the Nakaha railway crossing with the then local councillor Rajesh Kumar Yadav on various demands blocking the railway track. It resulted in Train Number 222 coming from Nautanwa to Gorakhpur held up for a long time at Nakaha station.

Gorakhpur:BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan along with Rajesh Yadav, his aide and the then local councillor has been sentenced to one-year imprisonment and fined Rs 2,000 for their involvement in chakka jam in 2004.

On December 18, 2004, the then SP MLA Paswan was staging a demonstration near the Nakaha railway crossing with the then local councillor Rajesh Kumar Yadav on various demands blocking the railway track. Because of that train number 222 coming from Nautanwa to Gorakhpur remained standing for a long time at Nakaha station.

The driver and guard of the train had filed a case on the Naqha RPF post on the day of the incident. On 14 November 2011, the RPF also filed a charge sheet in the court presenting documentary evidence in the court.

The Gorakhpur Additional Sessions Judge Namrata Aggarwal produced the order on Wednesday.
