BIBCL and two more companies are set to produce Covaxin in India

Bharat Immunologicals and Biologicals Corporation Ltd (BIBCOL), a public sector will now start producing Covaxin. This will be the first company to produce 2 million doses every month.

Bulandshahr:Bharat Immunologicals and Biologicals Corporation Ltd (BIBCL), a public sector will now start producing Covaxin. This will be the first company to produce 2 million doses every month. After successfully making the Polio vaccines in its plant in Bulandshahr, will soon produce the vaccine by October this year after mobilising all the necessary resources.

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has given the green signal to three companies in the country to manufacture Covaxine. These include Bharat Immunologicals and Biologicals Corporation Limited (BIBCL), a well-known company of Bulandshahr. The other two companies Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation Limited and Indian Immunologicals Limited. BIBCL is also setting a target to increase the vaccination production capacity to 20 million doses.

So far, Hyderabad-based company Bharat Biotech is making the Covaxin. The company is finding it difficult to supply the vaccines due to heavy demand in the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. Taking note of the situation, the Union Health Ministry directed the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization to increase vaccination production in the country.
