Rampur (UP):Samajwadi Party lawmaker Azam Khan was shifted to Bareilly jail on Thursday.
According to sources, Khan was scheduled to be shifted to the Sitapur jail but was stopped mid-way in Bareilly after his hearing at ADJ court.
Talking to ETV Bharat, public prosecutor Dalvinder Singh said: "Azam Khan was presented before the court today, from where he was dismissed after taking his signature in regard to two cases."
Singh informed that any further formalities will be completed via video conferencing.
Talking about Khan being shifted to Bareilly, Singh asserted that this has been done in accordance with an order from DID jail.
He went on to say that Khan is to be presented before the court on March 5, 6 and 7 and the conveyance to the court will be better facilitated from the jail in Bareilly.
Dalvinder Singh informed that the order to shift Azam Khan to Sitapur jail has not yet been communicated in written and that he will be shifted to the Sitapur facility soon after it is received.
