Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh): Several Congress workers staged a protest in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow on Thursday, demanding a Supreme Court supervised investigation into allegations of corruption in a land deal by the Ram temple trust in Ayodhya.
The party workers wanted to hand over a memorandum to the district magistrate addressing President Ram Nath Kovind demanding a probe under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) media coordinator Lalan Kumar said.
According to the sources, While moving towards the collectorate, they were checked by the police near Globe Park. Reacting to this, the protesters blocked the road. Later, the police detained them in the ECO garden. Congress workers demonstrated for about 20 minutes and raised slogans against the state government.
