Kanpur: The Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday informed that arms license files of as many as 200 people including gangster Vikas Dubey are missing from Arms License Department.
An FIR was lodged against an official of Arms License Department, identified Vijay Rawat, who was found guilty during the investigation, police informed.
Arms license files of 200 people including gangster Vikas Dubey is missing: Report Speaking to media persons, Kanpur SP, Raj Kumar Agrawal said," An investigation revealed that Vikas Dubey had made his first arms license in the year 1997. As we started the investigation, it came to know that Dubey's file is also missing. After which information revelled that as many as 200 files have disappeared from the department."
"After the information of the disappearance of the arms files, now several questions arising on Vikas Dubey," he added.
"We have started an investigation into the matter and then we will soon apprehend the main accused persons. Based on the police investigation report an official of the same department has been arrested," said Atul Kumar, Additional District Magistrate, Kanpur.
Reportedly, a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered during a search operation from the residence of Vikas Dubey, the main accused in the Kanpur encounter case in which eight policemen were killed.
