Aligarh: In a view to produce trained personnel to handle the danger posed by earthquakes after a series of tremors rocked the National Capital Territory, the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) will start a new M Tech (Civil Engineering) with specialisation in 'Earthquake Engineering and Disaster Management'.
The course will be introduced in the Department of Civil Engineering, Zakir Hussain College of Engineering and Technology.
"Twelve students from B Tech (Civil Engineering) will be selected to study earthquake engineering as a systematic study of the earth, and the consequences of any disturbance within it and its impact on human life, property and environment," said Prof Pervez Mustajab, Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
