AMU sophomore shot dead in Aligarh

The deceased was identified by the police as Atif a second-year BA student at AMU. He was returning home on a two-wheeler with his friend late on Saturday night when the assailants opened fire. Atif fell down from the two-wheeler while his friend Zaid who was riding the vehicle sped away from the scene.

Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh): A student of the Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) was shot dead at Quarsi in Aligarh on Sunday.

The deceased was identified by the police as Atif a second-year BA student at AMU. He was returning home on a two-wheeler with his friend late on Saturday night when the assailants opened fire. Atif fell down from the two-wheeler while his friend Zaid who was riding the vehicle sped away from the scene.

AMU students created ruckus at the J.N. Medical College, protesting the killing of Atif.

Circle Officer Anil Samania said Atif was accused of conspiracy in the murder of one Shahbaz in Jamalpur area in 2018 and was out on bail.

Police sent for post mortem. Further investigation into the incident is underway, the police said.
