Prayagraj:The Allahabad High Court granted bail to former Union Minister and BJP leader Swami Chinmayanand on Monday in the alleged rape case of a law student.

Allahabad HC grants bail to Swami Chinmayanand in rape case
The 23-year-old woman student of the Chinmayanand-controlled SS Law college.
The case is being investigated by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on the direction given by the Supreme Court.
Chinmayanand was booked under section 376C of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which is usually applied in cases where a person abuses his position to 'induce or seduce' a woman under his charge to have 'sexual intercourse not amounting to the offence of rape'.
He also faced charges under IPC sections 354D (stalking), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
