Lucknow: An important meeting of the All India Shia Personal Law Board was held in Sultanul Madrasa of the capital. In this meeting, many members including the Chairman of the board, Maulana Sayam Mehndi and the secretary and spokesperson of the board, Maulana Yasoob Abbas, were present. In this meeting, along with discussions on many issues related to the Muslim community, the religious conversion law and Population Control Bill Draft were openly opposed.
In the meeting of the All India Shia Personal Law Board, Shia religious leader and secretary of the board, Maulana Yasoob Abbas said that the Uttar Pradesh government should revisit the Population Control Bill draft. He said that the All India Shia Personal Law Board opposes the Population Control Bill draft and demanded from the Uttar Pradesh government that instead of this law, the level of education in the state should be elevated. Open schools and colleges, so that awareness among the population is created. On this occasion, the Chairman of the Board, Maulana Sayam Mehndi said that if such a law is made, then first this law should apply to the MLAs, MLCs, and leaders of the country.

He further added that any law should be applicable for the whole of India and not just for one state. Taking a jibe at the government, Maulana said that when there are only six months left for the elections in Uttar Pradesh, in such a situation, bringing this law seems to be related to politics.
