Lucknow:The Uttar Pradesh government has identified 498 people in connection with the damage caused to public property during the recent protests in various towns across the state.
The Information and Communication Department of Uttar Pradesh today informed that the District Magistrates of Lucknow, Meerut, Sambhal, Rampur, Muzaffarnagar, Firozabad, Kanpur Nagar, Mau and Bulandshahar identified the people responsible for the damage, the report for which has been submitted to the government.
In Lucknow 82 people have been identified, 148 in Meerut, 26 in Sambhal, 79 in Rampur, 13 in Firozabad, 50 in Kanpur Nagar, 73 in Muzzafarnagar, 8 in Mau and 19 in Bulandshahr.
Meanwhile, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has decided that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) will probe cases of violence during the recent protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the state.
