Lucknow:Forty-nine nomination papers for the first round of Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh were declared invalid on Tuesday, officials said.
Of the 146 nomination papers filed for 8 Lok Sabha seats, which would go to polls on April 11, 97 were found accurate.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) L. Venkateshwarlu said in Saharanpur 9 nomination papers of the 20 filed were rejected due to some discrepancies.
In Kairana, all the 14 nomination papers were found correct, in Muzaffarnagar 12 of the 22 nomination papers were dismissed.
