40 Indian pilgrims of Umrah stranded in Saudi Arabia

At least 40 Indian pilgrims who went to Saudi Arabia for the Umrah, got stranded due to the suspension of all the flights following the wake of coronavirus. The kins of those 40 Indian citizens urged the government to intervene in this matter to get them back to India.

Bareli (Uttar Pradesh):At least 40 Indian citizens, who are stranded in Saudi Arabia following the suspension of all flights due to the wake of coronavirus, urged the central government of India to get them back to India.

After the banning of all the flights, 40 pilgrims including 13 women who went to the Umrah in Saudi Arabia on February 25, are not being able to return to their native.

According to sources, among the 40 pilgrims, 37 are from Pilibhit, 2 are from Rampur and 1 is from Bareli in Uttar Pradesh.

While speaking to ETV Bharat, Firasat Ali, brother of a pilgrim named Sajjad Ahmed, said," My brother and uncle who went to the Umrah Yatra, are not able to return home on March 15 because all the flights got suspended. They have been stranded in Saudi Arabia without money. We all helpless in this situation."

Ahmed also said, "It is my earnest request to the government to airlift those 40 Indians who are there in Saudi Arabia struggling without money."

Meanwhile, the matter came into light after a viral video of those pilgrims circulated on social media.
