Agra: In a major development after the Centre's move on Article 370, 30 prisoners from Jammu and Kashmir were shifted to the Agra Central Jail on Thursday.
The inmates were airlifted to Agra According to reports, the inmates were brought to Agra today afternoon on a special flight.
The inmates were then taken to Agra Central Jail from the airport in a police van. Heavy security was in place all through the route.
Further, windows of the police van carrying the inmates were covered with a cloth, providing no view to reporters outside the jail premises. The identities of the inmates have also not been revealed.
Pertinently, the district authorities had denied any information regarding the shifting of inmates till around 1 pm in the afternoon.
However, the inmates were brought in to Agra Central Prison later at around 2:45 pm.
The move comes shortly after the Parliament approved a resolution abrogating special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution and a Bill for splitting the state into two Union Territories.
Meanwhile, NSA Ajit Doval was seen interacting with a few locals in the Kashmir Valley yesterday, during his visit to Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of the security situation.
