Hyderabad:Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS), Gachibowli, being developed on the lines of PGI Chandigarh, offering high-end tertiary healthcare and research facilities, will be inaugurated in another four to five days.
Health Minister, Etela Rajender on Wednesday said that the manpower recruitment for the new tertiary hospital-cum-research centre will be completed in another two days. The health department is in the process of recruiting close to 650 clinical and non-clinical staff for TIMS, Gachibowli.
TIMS Gachibowli to be inaugurated soon “A few days ago, we had soft-launched outpatient facilities at TIMS. The inpatient facilities and the entire hospital will be inaugurated either on June 28 or 29. This is another unique achievement for Telangana, as we were able to complete the project in a matter of just months,” Rajender said, during an inspection of the facility on Wednesday.
The modern hospital has 1,224 beds out of which 1,000 beds have Oxygen supply and 50 beds with ventilator support.
The minister said that only the people having COVID-19 symptoms should only go for tests.

"If your neighbour is affected with coronavirus, do not panic. It will not spread to you. Irresponsible people are creating confusion. I request media to build strength amongst the public. We have reached the capacity of testing 6,600 people. Including private diagnostics, we have reached the level of testing 10,000 people per day. The death rate due to coronavirus is reducing," he further said.
“The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao’s vision was to develop a high-end PG medical research facility that can provide tertiary medical care facilities to Covid-19 positive patients. We have managed to achieve that vision at TIMS,” he said.
The facility is equipped with a canteen and Covid-19 positive patients need not worry about ordering or making arrangements for food from outside. The furnishing works in all the 15 floors are complete and are ready for occupation.
