T'gana Police save woman from attempting suicide

Rachakonda police rescued a woman who allegedly tried to commit suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling. The swift attempt by the police was made possible after they were alerted by the neighbours.

Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police on Monday saved a woman who allegedly tried to commit suicide along with her husband at their residence in Telangana's Padmarao Nagar.

Her husband, however, was found dead. The police were alerted by the neighbours after they noticed smoke coming out of the house.

The reason for the attempted suicide is yet to be known as Police found burnt mattresses, which caused the fire, indicating several bids by the couple to commit suicide.

"The couple, identified as Murli and Priyanka, attempted suicide at their residence. After being alerted by the neighbours, two police personnel reached the spot and found the woman alive," said Mahesh Bhagwat, Police Commissioner - Rachakonda.

"Constable Mahipal rushed the woman to the patrol van and saved her life," said Bhagwat, appreciating the efforts of the two police personnel.
