T'gana: Internet suspended, Sec 144 imposed in Bhainsa following clashes

Following violent clashes between two groups in Telangana's Bhansa on January 13, Section 144 has been imposed in the area till tomorrow. Further, internet services have also been suspended indefinitely in the town and areas of adjoining districts.

Hyderabad (Telangana): Internet services have been suspended indefinitely and prohibitory orders imposed under Section 144 of CrPC till January 15 in Bhainsa town of Telangana's Nirmal district, which witnessed clashes between two communities late on Sunday night.

According to the Telangana police, clashes took place between two communities who started pelting stones at each other in the late hours on January 12, which turned violent resulting in 13 houses and 26 vehicles being set on fire. Three police officials, including District SP and DSP who were part of the police team that reached the spot sustained injuries in the violence.

Police said the situation was brought under control only in the early hours of Monday.

Section 144 was imposed in the Bhainsa area on January 13 and will remain in effect till January 15, in order to prevent untoward incidents.

"FIRs are being registered in the police stations and CCTV footages are being examined by the police. Confidence building measures are initiated in the area," a senior police official said.

In order to control the law and order situation, the police have also requested to block the internet services in the areas of Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal and Mancherial districts from January 13 till further orders.

Heavy police force was deployed in the town and patrolling was being done and the situation being monitored.

The clash broke out as some people were questioned by members of another community while they were making noise by removing silencers from their bikes, police earlier said.

Some of the rioters allegedly cut water pipes of the fire engines that were engaged in extinguishing the flames, district officials said adding some residents have also claimed that their houses were also looted by the mob.

Those involved in the clashes were being identified and legal action will be initiated against those responsible for the violence, police said.
