Hyderabad: Following directions from the state High Court, the Telangana government has banned sale and use of firecrackers with immediate effect to curb noise and air pollution.
On Tuesday, the Telangana High Court had asked the state government to immediately ban the sale and use of fireworks.
In an order, the government said that the High Court also asked it to appeal to people to refrain from bursting firecrackers in order to save the environment.

"The government after careful consideration of the matter and keeping in view the directions of the Hon'ble High Court, hereby impose a ban on sale and use of firecrackers by the people and organizations, with immediate effect," it said.
The state DGP, DG of Fire Services and all district Collectors, Commissioners of Police, Superintendents of Police in the state should take immediate action to close the shops which are selling fireworks throughout the state, it said.
