Telangana: Falaknuma Express catches fire, four bogies burnt, no loss of life

The Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma Superfast Express caught fire and four of its catches were burnt. However, the passengers had a providential escape as they were evacuated from the bogies immediately on noticing the flames. The incident took place between Pagidipalli and Bommaipalli villages in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana, about 45 kms from Hyderabad.

Hyderabad (Telangana): In a major disaster, a fire erupted with flames spreading to four coaches of the Secunderabad-bound Falaknuma Express train on Friday. Fire broke out as a result of a short circuit, causing thick smoke to billow out of the affected bogies. There was no loss of life as the railway officials intervened timely and evacuated the passengers.

The incident occurred between Pagidipalli and Bommaipalli in the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, Telangana. The quick response from alert officials led to the immediate halt of the train at that location, allowing the passengers to be safely evacuated from the affected coaches. There were no casualties resulting from the incident. Reports indicate that the four coaches were severely damaged by the fire.

Immediate reports said that loss of life was averted nor there were injuries to anybody in the mishap. The railway authorities rushed to the spot and initiated rescue operations. The reasons for the short circuit were not yet known. The Falaknuma Express originated from Howrah and met with the fire mishap just towards the last leg of reaching its destination.

A major train tragedy was averted and the passengers had a miraculous escape without burns in the Falaknuma Superfast train fire. Some of the bogies were seen completely engulfed in flames. Four bogies were completely burnt while flames were spreading to two more, sources said.
