Resounding victory in Municipal polls as TRS delivered on promises: KTR

In an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat, TRS Working President KT Rama Rao said that the resounding victory in the Municipal Polls was due to the party delivering on its promises. He also said that all talks of him completely taking over the party mantle were only "speculations".

Hyderabad (Telangana):With the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) looking set for a landslide victory in the Municipal Polls, party Working President KT Rama Rao on Saturday credited the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led government's slew of developmental measures and welfare schemes for the party's success.

It was celebrations at the TRS headquarters in Hyderabad’s Banjara Hills as the party candidates storm in with victory signs and drummers beating the drums to the dance of victory. In the sea of pink stands the man who led the party ensuring that its dominance continuee, KT Rama Rao.

Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, Rao, who is also the state IT and Municipal Minister, said that the resounding victory in the municipal elections is due to the "the party having delivered on its promises."

He said that with the win, his responsibilities as the Municipal Minister have increased. He thanked the people for reimposing faith in his party, and also credited the party workers for the victory.

The heir apparent is already an imposing figure who is coming out from the shadows of his father taking up the responsibilities as its working president. On speculations on whether he will be completely taking on the party reins, he said, "leave it at that, just speculations."

KTR seemed to be determined about reforms and also said that there are more than one reform he wants to put through. He apprised about the new Municipal Act that will help the corporations and municipalities to reach out to the people much better than it is now.

"The Act is full of reforms, especially with respect to self-certification for building permission," he said adding that it would ensure that transparent processes are followed with respect to citizen services.

However, Rao refused to divulge much details into the prospects of his party foraying into national politics with the 'federal front', saying that "appropriate decisions will be taken at the appropriate time."

On Hyderabad, Rao said that the city has always been cosmopolitan, and has imbibed all cultures and languages. "This cultural assimilation, and the brilliant juxtaposition of the old heritage and new vibrancy is what makes Hyderabad special," he said.

"Hyderabad's journey has just begun. We will continue to thrive and grow," he added.
