Hyderabad: Incessant rains continued its onslaught in Hyderabad on Tuesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing the orange warning.
With no respite in the climate from Monday, roads and low lying areas in several localities have been flooded, and water entered homes and apartment cellars, giving nightmarish experience to the residents.
Traffic came to a standstill on many stretches due to flooding and overflowing nullahs. Several places including Koti, Begum Bazar, Nampally, Basheerbagh, Narayanaguda, the overflowing drain left the road flooded, causing untold misery to commuters.
Rain continues in Hyderabad, IMD issues orange warning Dampening the hopes of any respite, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the city will receive rainfall on October 14 due to a depression formed over the west-central Bay of Bengal.
According to official data (from 8.30 AM to 1900 hours on October 13), Venkat Palle in Yadadri-Bhongir district received 243.8 mm of rainfall, followed by 210.8 mm at Singapur Township in Medchal Malkajgiri district.
Several other places in the state received very heavy rain, while Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) too received heavy rains.
The provisional average rainfall in GHMC was 64.4 mm, the official data (from 8.30 AM to 2000 hours on October 13) said.
The heavy rains triggered following a deep depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal, led to water-logging at several roads in Hyderabad and traffic moved at a snail's pace.
The depression is likely to further intensify. Following the alert sounded by IMD, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has started preparing for relief measures, in case any emergency arises.
The corporation is identifying rehabilitation centres, such as schools and community halls, where residents of low-lying areas may be shifted.
Due to the impact of the depression, Pasumamula and Abdullapur received 11.5 cm of rainfall and Hayatnagar received 6.5 cm of rainfall, 12.6 cm of rain fell in Ibrahimpatnam area.
Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has sounded weather warning for Telangana for the coming two days, with the forecast of thunderstorm accompanied with lightning at isolated places, heavy to very heavy rain at a few places and extremely heavy rains at isolated places. IMD Hyderabad has issued warnings in northern and western Telangana districts. Red alert issued in eastern and central Telangana districts.

In its weather warning for Telangana, the Met Centre in Hyderabad said thunderstorm accompanied with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places over Telangana on October 14.
Heavy to very heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places, IMD said.
