Hyderabad:Over 4000 migrant labourers stranded in Ramagundam city in Telangana gathered at Rajeev Highway and demanded assistance to go home.
According to sources, the workers from Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, and Karnataka, were employed at various establishments city, assembled to go to their native places.
The migrant labourers from different states, who are working at NTPC in the Peddapalli district and stranded in Ramagundam amid the novel coronavirus lockdown, started congregating at Rajeev Highway on Sunday morning.
They demanded that the police allow them to leave for home. They said if they are not allowed to travel by vehicles or any public transport, then they should at least be allowed to travel by walking, sources said.
Later, the Telangana Police reached the spot and collected the basic information of all the migrants including their Aadhar card details.
On being informed about the protest, Ramagundam MLA Korukanthi Chander reached the spot and assured them that he is looking into the matter and they will soon be sent to their native places after discussing with the government officials, sources added.
