Hyderabad (Telangana): Scores of migrant workers stranded in Hyderabad are being sent back to their native states via buses and trains.
Early today morning, a special train carrying migrant workers started from Ghatkesar railway station on the outskirts of Hyderabad left for Khagaria in Bihar.
The train leaving for Khagaria Earlier yesterday, around 100 migrants left for Jharkhand on two private buses from Hyderabad's Golconda limits.
"The migrants requested permission to send them and said that they will bear their own expenses. We will permit people who make arrangements to go on their own transport," Chandrasekhar Reddy, Inspector, Golconda Police Station told a news agency.
Bus transporting migrants from Golconda to railway station Further, 30 other migrants were also sent to the Railway station via bus, from where they will be boarding trains.
Reddy said there are around six thousand migrants in Golconda limits, and the police has issued passes to about 500 people till now.
On the same day, 59 migrant workers from Hyderabad's Mirchowk area were sent on two buses to Secunderabad Railway Station, where they will board a train for Bihar, police said.

"There are around 2,000 migrant labourers working in Mirchowk division and they will be sent on different dates. Today, 59 are being sent," said Laxmi Narayana, Sub Inspector of Mirchowk.
However, the news of trains being arranged to send migrants back home has also seemingly created anxiousness, as around 1000 stranded migrants started walking towards the Secunderabad and Nampally railway stations in hope of boarding a train back home. But the migrants were stopped by the police and later shifted to a function hall where they are temporarily being put up.
Migrants stopped by police being sent back on a bus "Around 1000 migrant labourers who are working with L&T company at RGI Airport were found walking towards Nampally and Secunderabad railway station. They were stopped at Bahadurpura area near zoopark and we explained to them that there are no trains available right now at railway stations," Anil Kumar, Addl CP Traffic Police said.

"We have arranged vehicles to shift them to a function hall, we also arranged food for them. We have assured them that the government will send them back to their home states in the coming two days. They agreed to stay back," he added.
Meanwhile, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar announced that the state would run 40 special trains per day for one week to transport migrants back to their home states.
