Senior Cong leader S Jaipal Reddy cremated with full state honours

Senior Congress leader S Jaipal Reddy's funeral ceremony was performed with full state honours in Hyderabad. He passed away on July 28 at the age of 77 after being diagnosed with Pneumonia. Many Political leaders and hundreds of supporters paid their tributes to the former Union minister.

Hyderabad (Telangana): Last rites of former Union Minister and senior Congress leader S Jaipal Reddy were performed with full state honours near PV Ghat at Necklace Road abutting Hussain Sagar lake in the heart of Hyderabad today.

Karnataka CLP leader Siddaramaiah, Karnataka former speaker Ramesh Kumar, Senior Congress Leaders Gulam Nabi Azad, Mallikarjun Kharge, RC Kuntia, V Hanumantha Rao, Telangana Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, TRS MP D Srinivas and BJP leader DK Aruna were among those who attended the funeral.

Jaipal Reddy's elder son Arvind Reddy lit the funeral pyre amid chanting of Vedic hymns by priests while Telangana Police offered a gun salute.

The Telangana government had Monday announced a state funeral for Jaipal Reddy.

Despite unpleasant weather, hundreds of people gathered at the cremation site to witness the funeral.

Earlier, the mortal remains of the deceased leader were brought from his residence in Jubilee Hills to state Congress headquarters at Gandhi Bhavan, where several leaders and workers of the party paid their last respects.

S Jaipal Reddy passed away in the wee hours of Sunday. Reddy (77) was recently diagnosed with pneumonia and was admitted to AIG hospital, where he died at 1.28 am.
