Hyderabad: Several parts of Hyderabad suffered flood-like situations following incessant rains since Wednesday night. Most of the residential colonies faced water-logging and inundation after heavy rains battered the district. People residing in low-lying areas were forced to spent sleepless nights as intense showers of rains lashed the city. According to a weather report, the southwest monsoon is turning vigorous under the influence of upper air cyclonic circulation.
Nearly 40 areas in Hyderabad recorded 10 to 20 cm rainfall during the last 24 hours, it added. Floodwater gushed into houses in some colonies near Saroor Nagar pond. Kodandaram Nagar and Seesala Basti colonies in Gaddi Annaram division, Tapovan colony in Lingoji Guda division, Sainagar and Green Park colonies were submerged due to rainwater.

Many residents, in LB Nagar, Hayatnagar, Abdullapurmet, Uppal, Ghatkesar, Boduppal, Peerzadiguda, Ghatkesar, Pocharam, Habsiguda, Ramanthapur and other areas, have complained that each year they face the problem of inundation as authorities failed to ensure proper drainage and stormwater system management. Local people also stated that the roads were completely inundated and the overflowing water from manholes and drains entered their houses.
"Our appliances and vehicles have submerged into knee-deep floodwater. We are having trouble getting daily necessities. We are desperately looking for help as the water around our houses is stagnant and we cannot go out," said a local resident.
MLA Sudheer Reddy's car was caught in flood water in LB Nagar when he went to visit some of the flooded areas. The MLA along with his staff was seen pushing the stranded vehicle.
