Hyderabad: Torrential rains across Telangana have played havoc while throwing normal life out of gear. Several parts of the state are reeling under flood-like situations and most of the residential areas are facing water-logging and inundation. The overflowing water from manholes and drains has started entering houses with appliances and vehicles submerging into knee-deep floodwater. The movement of traffic has also been disrupted between many villagers due to floodwaters on the road. Many areas look like a pond with rainwater becoming stagnant. The continuous rains have also resulted in power cuts and people are facing a shortage of drinking water.
Apart from Hyderabad, heavy rains have also lashed many parts of Telangana including Nirmal, Adilabad, Kamareddy, Sangareddy, Medak, Rangareddy, Nagarkurnool, Jagittala, Khammam, Peddapalli, Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mahabubabad, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Mahabubnagar, Vikarabad, Karimnagar and Rajanna Sirisilla. According to the weather department, few places in the northeastern and eastern Telangana districts are likely to receive heavy rains with the next few days.

Heavy rains across the Nizamabad district have inundated the low-lying areas. Especially in the rural constituencies of Sirikonda, Dharpalli and Indalwai mandals as brooks are overflowing. Crops have been submerged due to overflowing water in the Jakran Palli Mandal. Nearly 50 acres of cropland is submerged in floodwaters near the Hannajipet pond.
The incessant rains have been a matter of concern for the farmers as they fear that their crops will get destroyed within a week of sowing. The floodwater is also approaching the paddy fields with heavy rains. The harvest stored in cold storage has started rotting due to excessive moisture. Authorities stated that the flood water has even reached near the Seethamma idol in Sita Wagu.
