Fake app in the name of Dharani on PlayStore; two accused arrested

Prem Mulle and Mahesh Kumar of Karnataka, Basavakalyan had created a fake app and named it Dharani after the Telangana portal which helps prevent irregularities in land records. The two accused have been arrested.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has made the Dharani portal available to prevent the irregularities in land records. This is the purpose of recording their assets in this app. However, some fraudsters have created a fake app in the name of Dharani. The Dharani app was created with the facility to download in the PlayStore. The makers were trying to peddle it as the official website. The matter came to the notice of the state technical services organization. The concerned authorities have complained to the cybercrime police.

The police came to the scene and found that two people named Prem Mulle and Mahesh Kumar of Karnataka, Basavakalyan had created a fake app. The police arrested the two accused. It is believed that the fake app has been created with the intention of deceiving people. Police found that there are some more fake apps in the name of Dharani. Police officials are asking people not to download apps in the name of this kind. Officials are expected to take the accused into police custody and investigate the matter.
