Hyderabad:Taking a leaf out of Congress-led Himachal Pradesh government, the party has planned to implement Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for government employees in Telangana if it comes to power in the state. Under OPS, a monthly pension amounting to half of the last drawn salary is paid to the beneficiaries till death.
Promising to bring government employees of Telangana under the OPS, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said around 1.36 government employees in Himachal Pradesh were brought under OPS as a humanitarial approach. Sukhu said a similar move will be taken in Telangana as well.
Addressing a party rally at Jadcherla in Hyderabad, Sukhu said that senior party leaders including Telangana Congress president A Revanth Reddy, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and AICC in-charge of party affairs in the state Manikrao Thakre have decided to implement OPS in Telangana once the Congress comes to power. "I have spoken to them in this regard. The leaders have told me that the manner in which we implemented OPS in Himachal Pradesh, we will do so in Telangana for the state government employees and officers," he said.
