Perambalur (Tamil Nadu):A team of local archaeological geology visited Kunnam, a quaint village in Perambalur, after several pictures of 'dinosaur eggs' went viral on social media platforms.

As Perambalur and Ariyalur districts have a history of fossils being found, locals believed them to be dinosaur eggs.

According to them, the giant structures are actually ammonite sediments which belong to a group of extinct marine mollusc animals which were found around 416 million years ago.

More than 25 concretions were found in Kunnam.

The team has also revealed that this is not the first time that the villagers found some unusual structure. Earlier, a farmer discovered as many as 27 ancient artefacts including five bronze idols when he was digging a pit for planting saplings. Later, he informed the Geological Survey of India and handed over the antique items to them.
