Two Tamil Nadu alcoholics die after drinking methanol

Two persons died in Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore district after they consumed methanol, as the liquor shops are closed due to COVID-19 lockdown.

Chennai:Two more persons lost their lives on Wednesday in Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore district after they consumed methanol, as the liquor shops are closed due to COVID-19 lockdown, said police.

According to reports, five persons in Cuddalore district consumed methanol on Monday night and were hospitalised the next day as they became critically ill.

Not responding to treatment, one person died on Tuesday.

With the deaths on Wednesday, the death toll due to alcoholism amid lockdown has gone up to three, reports added.
