TN: 22-yr-old live streams suicide attempt, rescued in time

A 22-year-old man attempted suicide by consuming pesticide and streamed the incident live on Facebook. The youth, who alleged he was being falsely accused of crimes by the police, was saved by locals in the nick of time. He is currently out of danger.

Karur (Tamil Nadu): A 22-year-old man attempted suicide in Tamil Nadu's Karur district and streamed the video of the incident live on social media platform Facebook on Wednesday.

According to reports, the youth, who works as a painter and also sells sand, repeatedly kept getting arrested by the Pasupathipalayam police.

The youth, who hails from Sanapatti, sat on the banks of river Amaravathi last night and went live on Facebook.

He made various allegations against the Pasupathipalayam police, claiming that he was being falsely accused of crimes he had not committed and was being intimidated.

He then poured pesticide into a soft-drink bottle, and drank it on camera.

Shocked after viewing the video, locals called for an ambulance and rushed Sadanandan to the hospital.

He is currently undergoing treatment and is reportedly out of danger.

Meanwhile, the Pasupathipalayam police have launched an investigation into the case.
