Kallakurichi (Tamil Nadu): The wife of a man from Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi, who recently passed away while in the United Arab Emirates, has appealed to the government to get the body of her deceased husband back home.
Nandhini appeals to govt to bring back body of his deceased husband Balachander (44), who had been employed as an electrician for the past 16 years in a private labour contract company named 'Al Qudra Facilities' in Abu Dhabi, was recently promoted to the post of supervisor.
Those working under Balachander were blaming him for their misery Though he had worked for years at the same company and there were doubts over his integrity, he was not being paid properly for the past six months, Balachander's wife Nandhini said.
Balachander's wife said he was forced to spray disinfectant To make matters worse, Balachander told his wife that he was being forced to work with his colleagues in the front line against coronavirus.
"My husband was being asked to do the job of spraying disinfectant by his employer in Abu Dhabi. Other employees and my husband refused to do it. But his boss compelled him to take up the job as he was the supervisor. Within few days, all of them had developed flu-like symptoms and were kept in isolation," Nandhini said.
Further, he had even purchased essential safety gear out of his own pocket.

Those who were isolated were told by the hospital that they had no proper medical facilities for even regular citizens and hence, were asked to take some paracetamol tablets before isolating themselves. As a result, those working under Balachander blamed him alone for their misery, Nadhini said.
On the night of April 3, Balachander spoke to Nandhini about his pending salary, which amounted to Rs 15 lakh in arrears against material purchased for Corona-prevention tasks and a few lakhs he had loaned out to his manager.
Balachander also said that since he had posted these details on his company's WhatsApp group, he was being threatened. The next day, Balachander messaged his wife on WhatsApp, asking her to take care of their two children.
After they did not receive any phone call and could not even contact him after April 6, Balachander's frightened family contacted the company through WhatsApp. In response, the company said that he had earlier been hospitalized and had committed suicide in his room.
However, Nadhini is not convinced with the explanation given by the company. "My husband's death casts suspicion. The central and state governments should help in contacting the company and in investigating the matter. They should also help me to bring back his body to his hometown," she said.
Balachander, who got married to Nandhine seven years ago, is now survived by his wife and two sons.
