Chennai:Chief Minister MK Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday signed investment deals worth Rs. 17,000 crore during an investment conclave in Chennai. The state government has signed overall 35 MoUs involving an investment of Rs 17,141 crore with an employment opportunity for 55,054 people. Stalin also laid the foundation stone for nine projects and inaugurated five other projects during the conclave.
Foundation stone for nine projects have been laid with an estimated investment of Rs 4,250 crore and employment potential of 21,630 persons and commercial production of five units were started with an estimated investment of Rs 7,117 crore and employment opportunities for 6,798 people. Speaking at an investment conference, he said that the Tamil Nadu government is working towards making the state the first address for industrial investments.

Stalin said, "Tamil Nadu was the address for culture. We are working to make such Tamil Nadu as the first address for industrial investments." Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that amid the Covid crisis, we not only faced medical emergency but also a financial crunch. But due to the regular flow of the industrial sector, the Chief Minister's Relief Fund received Rs 489.78 crore which ultimately helped the state to boost its medical infrastructure.
