Tamil Nadu: Police arrest Congress MP Jothimani

Congress party claimed the new Gandhi statue was erected without building a proper foundation. The party leaders demanded that chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami should not inaugurate the statue. Police led by Karur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mukesh Jayakumar held talks with the MP. Later, the police arrested Jothimani and other party workers after she declared her intentions to continue the protest.

Karur (Tamil Nadu): Police arrested and allegedly heckled MP Jothimani for staging a protest demanding the installation of a new statue of Mahatma Gandhi, claiming the existing structure has an improper foundation.

The Congress party has been protesting since yesterday over the Gandhi statue issue in the Karur Lighthouse Corner area.

Today the Congress party members led by Karur Lok Sabha member Jothimani rallied and chanted slogans against Karur municipality and district administration.

Congress party claimed the new Gandhi statue was erected without building a proper foundation. The party leaders demanded that chief minister Edappadi Panisamy should not inaugurate the statue.

Police led by Karur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mukesh Jayakumar held talks with the MP. Later, the police arrested Jothimani and other party workers after she declared her intentions to continue the protest.
