Madras University suspends classes over CAA protest by students

The University of Madras has declared to suspend classes from December 23 due to the students' protest against the CAA. Though, the agitated students have made it clear that the protest will go on and the University's plan to suppress the protest by giving holidays will not work.

Chennai (Tamil Nadu):The University of Madras has declared to suspend classes due to the continuous students' protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA).

According to sources, more police force will be deployed to strengthen the protection in and around the campus as the protest will take more serious form from Wednesday.

Earlier, the students have rejected the proposal of the negotiation talk by the management and continuing their protest.

Therefore, the management has declared that the Post-graduation, Research and all other classes will be suspended till December 23.

Students have been informed through SMS about the suspension of the classes.

Besides this, the University has also confirmed the holidays for the university from December 24 to January 1.

However, the agitated students have made it clear that the protest will continue and University's plan to suppress students protest by giving holidays will not work.
