Scared of failing in NEET again, 20-year-old in TN kills self, CM Stalin slams Centre

A 20-year-old student committed suicide afraid of failing in the NEET exams since he was trying to crack the test for last two years. Expressing his grief over his death, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has appealed to the students not to lose hope in the state government fighting to abolish NEET in Tamil Nadu.

Salem (Tamil Nadu): A 20-year-old student committed suicide afraid of failing in the NEET exams since he was was trying to crack the test for last two years. The NEET exams were held on Sunday but S Danush from Koolaiyur village in Salem district of Tamil Nadu killed himself ahead of it.

Dhanush was trying to clear the NEET examination for last two years without much success. He took the extreme step amid fear of failing in the third attempt. According to his family, he was studying the entire night for the examination. He committed suicide early in the morning.

More than ten students have committed suicide in Tamil Nadu ever since NEET exams were introduced in the state.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin expressed his grief over the death of the student. He appealed to the students not to lose hope in the state government's fight to cancel NEET in Tamil Nadu. He also blamed the Union government's indifference and adamant attitude over NEET which continues to claim the lives of aspiring students from rural and poor backgrounds.

Tamil Nadu state government is all set to bring a bill against NEET in the assembly on Monday. DMK in its poll manifesto promised that once it comes to power it will abolish the NEET exam in the state.
