Salem (Tamil Nadu):Officials at the Salem central jail in Tamil Nadu were subject to a major embarrassment as they released husband instead of wife on bail.
According to reports, the couple, Ranjith Kumar and Pavithra were arrested in connection with a murder in a nondescript village on June 23. They, along, with a friend were lodged in the central jail.
Pavithra's family had filed an application in the Madras High Court to bail her out. Once the application was approved, it was sent to jail authorities.

In a major goof-up, the officials went ahead and released her husband Ranjith Kumar only to realise their mistake later.
The matter came to light when Pavithra’s relatives arrived to receive her. After waiting for so long, they approached the authorities.
The officials realised their mistake and a team of officials went to Ethapur and brought back Ranjith. Following the clarification, Pavithra was subsequently released from the prison.
