Trichy:About Rs. 1.47 crore in cash was reportedly stolen from BHEL Cooperative Bank in Trichy district of Tamil Nadu. According to reports, the theft occurred at the highly guarded BHEL campus on the wee hours of Friday.
The incident came to light after the accountant opened the bank on Friday morning. Ravindran had earlier withdrawn Rs 1.47 crore and stored in a suitcase which was left unlocked. He opened the bank and found the cash missing from the suitcase.
On Friday morning, BHEL guards raised an alarm on sighting a break-in at a window in the bank building. The Police said that side window of the bank building was found 'disturbed' and police suspect that culprits gained entry through the window.
