Rajiv Gandhi assassination convict seeks help to contact ailing father via video call

Murugan, one of the convicts in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi has requested Tamil Nadu CM to enable him to contact his seriously ill father through a video call.

Vellore:One of the convicts in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Murugan has requested Tamil Nadu CM to enable him to contact his seriously ill father through a video call.

According to sources, Murugan has requested the CM, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, through his lawyer regarding his father's illness. He has also requested the CM to allow him to contact his father through a video call.

Murugan has been serving a life sentence at the Vellore Central Prison for the last 28 years and his father is currently struggling for life due to cancer.

"Many of the prison inmates at Vellore Central Jail are talking to their relatives through video call because of the curfew implemented to prevent the spread of coronavirus. I am also requesting to permit me for the video call," he stated in a letter.
