Migrant labourer walking home dies of starvation in Tamil Nadu

A migrant worker who was walking back to his home state in Bihar died of starvation mid-way.

Tiruvallur (Tamil Nadu): A migrant worker hailing from Bihar died in Tamil Nadu possibly due to starvation, an official said on Tuesday.

Ram Dee Vas, 42 was walking back home from Kavaraipettai, he collapsed mid-way on the road after walking several kilometres. However, according to reports, police have registered a case and the investigation has begun.

"A large number of migrant workers who lost their jobs owing to corona-induced lockdown, started walking back to their home states which in a way increased the number of corona cases across India", a source said.
