Elephant Chinnathambi freed from the cage after 132 days
An elephant (Chinnathambi) was released after 132 days at Periyathadakkam in Coimbatore. He was caged after villagers filed a complaint that the animal had destroyed the farmlands around Periyathadakkam in Coimbatore.
The elephant was locked up in a wooden cage at Varkala camp after the Madras High Court had ordered to inject anaesthesia to the animal on February 15.
Chinnathambi was made to do various exercises such as feeding, performing as per instructor (pagans), and obeying their command. After successfully completing these exercises, Chinnathambi was released from the cage on Friday evening. The villagers also performed special poojas before releasing Chinna Thambi from the cage.
