Govt jobs: Priority to candidates from Tamil medium, says TN Finance Minister

The state government will give priority in government jobs to applicants who have studied Tamil medium, said finance minister Palanivel Thiagarajan in the assembly here on Tuesday.

Chennai: The state government will give priority in government jobs to applicants who have studied Tamil medium, said finance minister Palanivel Thiagarajan in the assembly here on Tuesday.

Replying to a question raised by Tamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi leader Velmurugan over denial of jobs to those applicants, who studied Tamil medium, the minister pointed out, "The state government is well aware of this and applicants who have studied Tamil medium will be given priority. Moreover, the AIADMK government, which had given job priority to those who had not studied the Tamil language had made several mistakes, which will be rectified by DMK government."

Meanwhile Higher education minister Ponmudi said: "Those who studied the Tamil language will be given priority for jobs and the same was mentioned in the Governor's speech."

Continuing his speech, the finance minister noted, "We will examine the basis previous appointments offered to candidates from other states in the 10 years and such mistakes will never occur in the coming days in the state. As far as finance department is concerned, a white paper pertaining to finance department will be released."

"Moreover, if you come to know that if there is any misappropriation in the finance department, you can give proof for it. Similarly, one more white paper relating to alleged misappropriation of funds during AIADMK regime will also be issued soon."
