Coronavirus: Over 39 mediapersons test positive in Tamil Nadu

Over 39 persons, all are employees in a well known Tamil Newspaper in Chennai tested positive for coronavirus which rose the total number of positive cases in Tamil Nadu to 18,545.

Chennai: Over 39 mediapersons from a well-known Tamil Newspaper in Chennai have tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday.

All the infected people are treated in a private hospital of Tamil Nadu's capital city, sources said, adding that the company itself carried the expenses of its employees.

According to sources, all the staff were working from the office since the coronavirus-enforced lockdown was imposed across India in late March.

The source of the infection, in this case, was a delivery-person who brought essentials to the office from the Koyambedu market, said sources.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has been reported 18,545 positive cases and 133 deaths till date.
