Nargunan and Lakumanan were among the seven-eight men who tried closing the massive gate after it was opened for a truck that brought equipment to the factory. However, the wheels of the gate derailed and the gate came off. While the other men escaped in the nick of time, Nargunan and Lakumanan got crushed under its weight. The accident has been captured on CCTV.
Though the other men rushed the duo to the ICF hospital, they were declared brought dead.
The local police have registered a case.
It is learnt that the automatic sliding gate had been malfunctioning for the last couple of years. Since then, the workers were manually sliding it. Repeated requests by the workers to the management to get the gate fixed bore no fruit.
